Freeman Universe

If you arrived here directly, you know what you want—it's below. If you landed here unexpectedly, you probably wanted Start Here.

Reading Order

If you want to learn about the universe along with the protagonist,  Contract & Custom is the place to start.

If you want to dive into the deep end, start with Quite Possibly Alien. This series wants to be read in order.

Impossibly Alien takes off after the Quite Possibly Alien series ends. Think of the Impossibly Alien series as a second-stage booster that kicks in after the separation of Singularity Sun.

Books Between the Books

Early on in the first Freeman Universe series I started writing "books between the books" just for my mailing list subscribers. These tend to be shorter books that are more intimate than the mainline action series. When examined together they act like a "secret decoder ring" for the alert reader.

That said, these stories are not for everyone and they aren't designed to stand alone. Think of them as "bonus tracks" on an album, written and performed with the true fan in mind. You can tell which stories are the books-between-the-books by their numbering - they end in ".5".

If you want to read a fast-paced space opera adventure do so in this order:

  • 1. Quite Possibly Alien
  • 2. Quite Possibly Allies
  • 3. Quite Possibly Heroes

The other books; Quite Possibly TrueQuite Possibly False, and Singularity Sun are supplemental to that story. They explore aspects of the characters and the world that make the story richer but can also slow it down. They include events that occur chronologically before and after the main story line. They introduce details about characters that are only mentioned or seen in action from a distance in the main books. And they provide context about the world the main characters are unaware of.

If you want to immerse yourself in another world and peek behind the curtain this is the order to read the stories in:

  • 1. Quite Possibly Alien
  • 1.5 Quite Possibly True
  • 2. Quite Possibly Allies
  • 2.5 Quite Possibly False
  • 3. Quite Possibly Heroes
  • 4. Quite Possibly Final
  • 4.5 Singularity Sun
